With a focus on unique challenges that student-athletes face in higher education settings, this abstract outlines the positive impacts that service-learning initiatives can have on student-athletes to improve their academic and personal development outcomes.

With a focus on addressing the challenges of adjusting to online learning in both higher education and workplace settings, I created a plan and curriculum for a training event to discuss ways that instructors, professors, students, and other leaders can overcome various challenges and barriers that learners may face in the ever-changing digital world.

Named after the Student-Athlete Development Director that I worked directly with over the course of my time at Portland State University, my master’s degree final comprehensive examination project examined the challenges and barriers associated with student-athletes successfully engaging academically and preparing for post-collegiate life beyond college sports.
